
When I used to get a regular paycheck I did enjoy going out for lunch from time to time. I didn’t have wine. I was careful about what I ate…and yet…my brain never seemed to work as well after lunch as it did before.
New research from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, confirms my experience, showing that bite for bite, those who take an hour-long lunch at a restaurant with a friend are less cognitively astute than their colleagues who chose to eat rather quickly, and alone, at their desks. Both groups ate exactly the same food!
